Cancellation policy

Leaving is as easy as joining.

"Cancel anytime" means something specific at SiteCitrus. No contracts. No penalties. No hostage situations with your domain or your content. Here's exactly what happens when you decide to leave.

1 click To cancel

Every invoice has a cancellation link. Or reply to any email from Carter with 'cancel' and it's done.

30 days Your site stays live

After your final paid period, your site keeps running for 30 more days at no charge.

Everything You take with you

Full export package, your domain stays yours, your content is yours, no strings attached.

The 30-day timeline

What happens when you cancel.

From the moment you tell us you're leaving to the moment your site is safely in your hands, here's the exact timeline you can count on.

Day 0

You tell us you're cancelling

Click the cancellation link in any invoice, or send a quick email to [email protected]. You'll get a confirmation email the same day with a summary of what happens next, your final billing date, and a direct link to your export package (when it's ready). Your current paid period keeps running until it ends.

Day 1

Departure checklist arrives

Within 24 hours of confirming your cancellation, you'll get a departure checklist email: what to expect on Days 7, 14, 25, and 30. If your domain is with another registrar, we include step-by-step instructions for migrating DNS back to you. If you need anything unusual, just reply and we'll handle it.

Day 7

DNS handoff instructions

If we manage your DNS via Cloudflare, you get a detailed runbook for moving it back to your registrar. Includes the exact records to set, screenshots for the most common registrars (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Squarespace Domains, Google Domains), and a 'before you click' checklist so the migration doesn't cause downtime.

Day 14

Export package delivered

You get a complete ZIP of your site: the compiled HTML for every page, every image and media file in its original resolution, a plain-text copy document with all page content formatted for reuse, a README explaining how to host the files, and a list of every integrated service (contact forms, chatbot, analytics) along with what happens to each. You own all of it, no strings.

Day 25

Final reminder

We email you a reminder that your site goes offline in 5 days. This is your last chance to download the export package if you missed it, migrate your DNS if you haven't, or let us know you've changed your mind (yes, you can un-cancel up to this point).

Day 30

Site goes offline. You're free.

Your site is removed from SiteCitrus hosting. Your domain stays yours, pointed wherever you've aimed it. You keep everything we sent you. We send you a final email with your last invoice, your full site stats, and a genuine thank-you. If you ever want to come back, your export package makes it trivial to rebuild.

What you get

The export package, in detail.

Most "we'll give you your site" promises fall apart when you actually try to use the files. The SiteCitrus export package is built to be immediately usable by anyone who knows how to upload files to a server. Here's exactly what you get.

  • Every page as static HTML

Pre-built HTML files for every page of your site. Same output we deliver to our own CDN. Drop it on any static host (Netlify, Vercel, Cloudflare Pages, GitHub Pages, S3, even a cheap shared host) and it works.

  • All your images and media

Every photo, logo, icon, and media file in its original resolution. Optimized versions included too. Named sensibly so you can find what you need.

  • A plain-text copy document

Every word of written copy on your site, organized page by page. Formatted so you can paste it into any other builder without starting over.

  • A README with hosting instructions

A plain-English guide to getting your exported site back online. Lists three recommended free or cheap hosts and walks through the upload process for each.

  • A services handoff list

Every third-party service connected to your site (contact form routing, chatbot, analytics, monitoring) with its current configuration and what happens to it after cancellation. No surprises.

  • Your domain, still yours

Your domain was always registered in your name. We never held it. If we managed DNS for you, the Day 7 runbook walks you through moving it back to your preferred registrar.

The fine print

Answers to the questions we get.

Is there a cancellation fee?

No. The only thing you lose is the right to our ongoing care. Your current period is yours to keep, your export package is yours to keep, your domain is yours to keep.

Do I get a refund for the current month?

The monthly subscription is billed in advance and is non-refundable for the current period, but you keep the site for the full period you paid for plus the 30-day post-cancellation window. No partial refunds, but no early shutoffs either.

What about the setup fee?

The $500 signing deposit is non-refundable as it covers intake and drafting work. The remaining $1,000 is refundable under our first-draft guarantee if you're not satisfied after one round of revisions. If you cancel before drafting begins, the full setup fee minus the signing deposit is refunded. See the Terms for the specific language.

Can I un-cancel?

Yes, any time up to Day 25. Just email [email protected] and we'll reverse the cancellation. Your plan picks up where it left off. After Day 25 we start preparing to take the site offline, so the un-cancel window closes.

What happens to my chatbot, analytics, and integrated services?

Every service connected to your site gets documented in the handoff list. Services we provisioned for you (chatbot, monitoring) are removed. Services you own (your domain, your analytics account if you had one) stay with you. Form submissions routing stops when the site goes offline on Day 30.

What if I want to come back later?

Welcome back. Email [email protected] and we'll talk about rebuilding. If it's within six months of cancellation, we keep your project files and can usually get you back online in a fraction of the original setup time. If you've been gone longer, it's a fresh start but we already know your business.

Can I pause instead of cancel?

Not currently. We intentionally kept the plan structure simple: three tiers of ongoing care, or no care at all. If your needs are seasonal (a ski school, a tax firm, a summer-only camp) talk to us about whether the Starter plan fits your off-season.

What if you shut down SiteCitrus?

You'd get 90 days notice, an export package for every client, and help moving to a host of your choice. Our entire technical setup is deliberately portable: your site is static HTML, your domain is yours, your DNS is moveable. There's no lock-in to get stuck inside of.
